Getting started with RIKO

Sign up, run your first website crawl, check the setup checklist on the Home tab, test the bot and put the widget on your website.

This article walks a new clinic from signing up to having the RIKO chat widget live on its website. It covers the signup form, the free trial, the first website crawl, the setup checklist on the Home tab and the guided tour.

What RIKO does

RIKO is an AI chat widget that sits in the bottom-right corner of your website and answers visitor questions using your own content: the pages of your website, documents you upload, YouTube transcripts and Notion pages. When a visitor asks something it cannot answer, needs to make a complaint, or asks for a person, RIKO gives them your clinic's contact details, collects their name and email and passes the message on to you. On the Booking and Pro plans it also collects booking enquiries one question at a time and can hand them to Calendly, Cliniko or Zanda.

Sign up and start your trial

  1. Go to /signup and fill in Business name, Website URL, Email address and Password (at least 8 characters).
  2. If your clinic is in a regulated industry (healthcare, allied health, psychology, legal or financial services), tick My business operates in a regulated industry and then tick the Data Processing Agreement box that appears.
  3. Tick that you agree to the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Acceptable Use Policy. This box is mandatory.
  4. If someone gave you a referral code, enter it under Referral code (optional). A valid code extends your trial from 14 days to 30 days.
  5. Click Create account. You are taken straight to a secure Stripe checkout page where you pick a plan and your card is saved. You are not charged today: the first charge happens only when your free trial ends, and you can cancel before then.

The standard trial is 14 days with a card on file, and the plan you chose is active for the whole trial. After checkout you land in the RIKO dashboard at /app/dashboard. Sign in later at /app/login with the same email and password. See RIKO plans, trial and upgrading for what happens at the end of the trial.

Your first website crawl happens automatically

As soon as your account is created, RIKO crawls the Website URL you entered at signup and builds its knowledge base from those pages (up to 200 pages). You do not need to start this yourself. Depending on the size of your site it can take a few minutes.

You can add more knowledge at any time in the Knowledge tab (uploaded documents, YouTube videos, Notion pages). See Building the RIKO knowledge base.

The Home tab

The Home tab is the first screen in the RIKO dashboard. It shows:

On the Booking and Pro plans the Home tab also shows Recent Conversations and Recent Bookings. On Pro it also shows a stats strip (Conversations this month, Resolution Rate, Escalation Rate, Daily Average) and a Need help? button that opens the AI Business Assistant.

The Getting started checklist

The Getting started card on the Home tab lists the steps to get your bot live, with a progress bar. Each step links to the tab where you complete it:

  1. Add knowledge - crawl your site or upload documents (Knowledge tab).
  2. Customise your widget - set colours, name and welcome message (Appearance tab).
  3. Set your contact email - so RIKO knows where to send alerts (Settings tab).
  4. Install the widget - copy the embed snippet to your website (Embed tab).
  5. Send a test message - make sure your bot is answering well (Test Bot tab).

On the Booking and Pro plans a sixth step appears: Set up your booking prompt (Settings tab). On Pro a seventh appears: Connect Cliniko or Zanda (Settings tab).

Click the X in the corner of the card to dismiss it. The checklist is shown again after you finish the tour.

Take the tour

Click Take the tour on the Home tab to start a spotlight tour of the dashboard. Each step highlights one sidebar tab and explains what it does. Use Next, Back, Skip tour and Finish to move through it. The tour only shows the tabs your plan includes: 10 steps on Essentials (and on a trial with no plan chosen yet), 12 on Booking (adding Bookings and Recrawl) and 14 on Pro (adding Analytics and AI Assistant). You can replay it any time.

The dashboard tabs

The left sidebar of the RIKO dashboard has these tabs. Locked tabs show a padlock and open the Plans & Upgrade page when clicked.

During the trial you get the tabs of the plan you chose at checkout. An account that has not completed checkout yet gets the same tabs as Essentials.

Test your bot before going live

On the Booking and Pro plans, open the Test Bot tab and type a question, or click one of the Quick starts such as "What are your hours?". The Test Bot uses exactly the same bot your visitors get, so changes to your knowledge base or settings show up here. Click Start new conversation to reset.

On the trial and Essentials plans the Test Bot tab is locked. To test, open the Standalone chat link from the Embed tab in a new browser window - it is the same bot on a full page.

Put the widget on your website

Open the Embed tab, copy the snippet and paste it just before the closing </body> tag of your website (there are step-by-step instructions for WordPress, Shopify and Webflow on that tab). Full details: Installing the RIKO widget on your website.

Getting help

Click Support in the dashboard header to open the Contact Support form. Choose a category (Billing, Technical issue, Widget / embed, Knowledge base, Account, Legal - MSA / DPA request, Other), add a subject and message, and send. You can also email support@rapidintelligence.com.au. See Getting support.

Still stuck?

Ask RIKO Help, the chat bubble in the corner of this page - it answers from these articles. If it cannot help, use the support form in your dashboard or email support@rapidintelligence.com.au. Please do not include patient names or details.
