Customising how the RIKO widget looks

Every control on the Appearance tab - widget name, colours, glass or solid style, button glow, welcome message and logo - plus the live preview.

This article describes each control on the Appearance tab of the RIKO dashboard and what it changes on your website's chat widget. Changes apply the next time a visitor loads a page with the widget on it.

Saving changes on the Appearance tab

In the RIKO dashboard, open the Appearance tab. Edit any of the controls below; the Live Preview panel on the right updates as you type and an Unsaved changes badge appears. Click Save changes at the bottom to apply them. Nothing reaches your website until you save.

Widget name

Widget name is the name shown in the widget's header and on the standalone chat page. On the Pro plan you can enter your own business or brand name here (white-labelling). On the trial, Essentials and Booking plans the field is locked with the note "White-labeling is a Pro feature" and the widget header shows RIKO.

Colours

The Colours card has four colour fields. Each has a colour picker swatch and a text box where you can type a hex code such as #2563eb.

Pick colours with enough contrast so text stays readable. The Live Preview shows the result.

Widget style: Glass or Solid

Widget style is a two-way switch. Glass gives a frosted, semi-transparent panel that picks up the page behind it. Solid uses the exact Background and Text colours you set above. New accounts start on Solid.

Button glow

Button glow switches an animated glow around the chat button on your website On or Off. It draws the eye to the bubble; turn it off for a quieter look.

Welcome message

Welcome message is the first message a visitor sees when they open the chat. If you leave it blank the widget says "Hi! How can I help you today?". Keep it short and say what the bot can help with, for example "Hi! Ask me about our services, fees or how to book."

Avatar / Logo is the image shown in the widget header and beside each bot message. Drag an image onto the drop area or click browse. Accepted formats are JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF and SVG, up to 2 MB. The image is cropped to a circle, so a square image of about 200 x 200 pixels works best. Once uploaded the card reads Logo active; click Remove logo to go back to the default RIKO avatar. The logo is saved as soon as it uploads and does not need Save changes.

Suggested question chips

The question chips shown at the top of the chat ("What services do you offer?" and so on) are set in the Settings tab under Suggested questions, not on the Appearance tab. You can enter up to 4 questions, one per line; leave the box blank to hide the chips. They disappear once the visitor sends their first message. See RIKO settings explained.

Live Preview

The Live Preview panel on the Appearance tab is a mock-up of your widget: header, avatar, name, status line, suggested question chips, welcome message and input bar. It updates as you edit, before you save, so you can try colours safely. The Home tab shows a similar Widget Preview of the currently saved look.

Widget position and size

The widget always sits in the bottom-right corner of the page. There is no control for moving or resizing it.
